What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Body20 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Compliance Questionnaire includes a question regarding the FDD receipt. Specifically, it asks, "Did you give us a signed receipt for the copy of the FDD that we furnished to you?" with options to answer "Yes" or "No", and if yes, to provide the date. This questionnaire is designed to confirm that the franchisee understands the terms of the franchise agreement and that no unauthorized statements or promises have been made.
However, it is important to note that this questionnaire does not apply if the franchise is subject to state franchise disclosure laws in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin. Additionally, the acknowledgement should not be signed if the franchise is to be operated in, or the franchisee is a resident of, Maryland.
Therefore, prospective Body20 franchisees should determine whether their location or residency requires them to complete the Compliance Questionnaire. If it does, they will be asked to confirm whether they provided a signed receipt for the FDD. This is a standard practice in franchising to ensure that franchisees acknowledge receiving and reviewing the FDD, which contains important information about the franchise opportunity.
