What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the location for mediation involving a franchise purchased in Washington is specified. The mediation site will be in the state of Washington, or in a location mutually agreed upon at the time of the mediation, or as determined by the mediator at the time of mediation. This condition applies specifically to franchises purchased in Washington.
This means that if a Body20 franchisee in Washington has a dispute with the franchisor that goes to mediation, the mediation must occur within Washington unless both parties agree to an alternative location. The mediator can also determine the location. This offers some protection to the franchisee, as it prevents Body20 from forcing them to travel to a distant location for mediation.
It is important to note that these location rules apply specifically to mediation (or arbitration) for franchises purchased in Washington. Franchisees in other states may have different requirements or may be required to mediate or arbitrate disputes in a location chosen by Body20. Prospective franchisees should carefully review the dispute resolution provisions in the franchise agreement and any state-specific addenda to understand their rights and obligations.
