What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee has 60 days to prepare renovation plans after receiving written notice from Body20. These plans must adhere to the System Standards prescribed by Body20, and Body20 may require the franchisee to use approved architects and contractors. The franchisee must then submit these plans to Body20 for approval.
Once the renovation plans are approved, the franchisee is obligated to complete all the work within a time period that Body20 reasonably specifies. This renovation requirement can occur no more than once every five years, but it is a mandatory obligation for the franchisee to maintain the studio's appearance and align it with Body20's current image and design.
This obligation could result in extensive structural changes and significant remodeling, potentially requiring substantial capital expenditures for new operating assets. The franchisee is responsible for covering these costs, even if they cannot be fully amortized over the remaining term of the franchise agreement. This ensures that all Body20 studios maintain a consistent brand image and meet the franchisor's standards, but it also places a financial burden on the franchisee to fund these periodic renovations.
