Section 2 Initial Term and Successor Term.
- 2.1 Initial Term.
The initial term (the "Initial Term") of the License begins on the Effective Date and ends ten years from the date that your Studio opens for business (the "Opening Date"), unless this Agreement is terminated sooner as provided in other sections of this Agreement.
- 2.2 Successor Term.
Upon the expiration of the Initial Term, if you (i) are not in default under this Agreement, (ii) have substantially complied with this Agreement throughout the Term, (iii) have timely paid all monies due to us or our Affiliates, and (iv) comply with this Section 2.2, you may, at your option, obtain two additional consecutive successor terms of five years each (each, a "Successor Term").

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial term of the license agreement begins on the effective date, as defined in Appendix A, and extends for ten years from the date the studio opens for business. This initial term is subject to earlier termination as outlined in other sections of the agreement.
Following the initial term, a Body20 franchisee has the option to obtain two additional consecutive successor terms, each lasting five years. To qualify for these successor terms, the franchisee must meet specific conditions. These include not being in default under the agreement, substantially complying with the agreement throughout the initial term, timely paying all monies owed to Body20 or its affiliates, and fulfilling the requirements outlined in Section 2.2 of the franchise agreement.
These requirements for renewal are fairly standard in franchising. The successor agreement may contain terms that differ materially from the original agreement, including potentially higher royalty fees, brand fund fees, and modifications to the territory. The franchisee may also be required to refurbish or renovate the studio to meet Body20's current image standards and complete additional training requirements.
