What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training fee covers training for the initial required trainees only if they attend the same training session. The initial training must be completed before conducting the studio presale, which is the three-month period before the studio's opening, or by an earlier deadline specified by Body20. The table in Item 7 of the FDD shows the initial training fee is a lump sum payment of $2,500, which is paid to Body20 prior to the initial required trainees' initial training and prior to opening the studio, as specified by Body20.
If the initial required trainees do not attend the same training session, additional fees may apply. Furthermore, franchisees are responsible for travel and related expenses during the initial training. The FDD estimates these expenses to range from $1,000 to $6,000, covering the cost of two people attending three days of training in Newport Beach, California. These costs include travel, living expenses, and wages for the trainees during the initial training.
If Body20 elects to provide initial training at the franchisee's studio, the franchisee must pay an additional training fee of up to $1,000 (currently $500) per trainer per day, and cover the travel and living expenses of Body20's trainers. This could significantly increase the initial training costs for the franchisee. Therefore, it is important for prospective franchisees to ensure that all initial required trainees attend the same training session to avoid incurring additional training fees and to factor in potential travel and accommodation costs.
