Does Body20 charge for mandatory additional training programs for franchisees or their employees?
Body20 Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
We may periodically conduct mandatory or optional training programs for your Required Trainees and/or your employees at our office or another location that we designate.
There will be no charge for training programs that we require you or your employees to attend, except (a) with respect to our Initial Training program, as provided in Section 3.11, (b) as provided in Appendix A (if any additional training fees are specified within such Appendix), and (c) with respect to any third-party training or certification programs that we require your instructors to complete, but we may charge you a reasonable fee for optional training programs, which will not exceed $3,000 per attendee per program.
D. Section 5 (Training) is amended by adding the following new Sections 5.8 and 5.9 to the end of that Section:
- 5.8 Coach Onboarding. In addition to satisfying our eligibility criteria, as stated in the Manuals, each individual who will be providing fitness coaching at the Studio must attend and successfully complete, as determined by us in our sole discretion, our coach onboarding program ("Coach Onboarding") before providing any fitness coaching at the Studio. If a fitness coach has already completed Coach Onboarding in connection with another Studio within the prior two years, that coach is not required to attend the program at that time; however, each coach is required to attend the then-current Coach Onboarding every two years. As of the Effective Date, Coach Onboarding generally comprises five days of in-person training and 15 hours of online instruction. We conduct Coach Onboarding at those locations and at those times that we determine. You must pay us our then-current fee for each fitness coach attending Coach Onboarding (the "Coach Onboarding Fee"). Currently, the Coach Onboarding Fee is $125 for each attending coach, plus up to an additional $1,000 per coach that we determine, in our sole discretion, requires supplemental training. We may increase the Coach Onboarding Fee periodically, provided that it will not exceed $500 for each coach, plus up to $2,000 for any coach requiring supplemental training.
- 5.9 Other Training and Certification Requirements. Without limiting anything in this Section 5, you must comply, and ensure that your Studio employees comply, with, within the time periods that we designate, all applicable training and certification requirements that we, through the Manuals or otherwise, impose or may in the future impose, including, but not limited to, attending and completing, at your sole cost, a fitness certification course through an accredited program that is nationally or internationally recognized, such as National Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Council on Exercise, or the International Sports Sciences Association (which we may provide through our online training university), or any training required or recommended by our approved third-party equipment suppliers.
We may charge a fee of up to $1,000 per trainer per day for each trainer assigned to your Studio and any remedial training.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Body20's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Body20 may conduct mandatory or optional training programs for franchisees and their employees. Generally, there is no charge for mandatory training programs, with a few exceptions. These exceptions include the initial training program, any additional training fees specified in Appendix A, and any third-party training or certification programs that Body20 requires instructors to complete. However, Body20 may charge a reasonable fee for optional training programs, which will not exceed $3,000 per attendee per program.
Body20 also offers a Coach Onboarding program for individuals providing fitness coaching at the studio. The franchisee must pay a fee for each fitness coach attending this program, referred to as the Coach Onboarding Fee. As of the Effective Date of the franchise agreement, this fee is $125 per coach, with an additional charge of up to $1,000 per coach if supplemental training is required. Body20 retains the right to increase this fee periodically, but it will not exceed $500 per coach, plus up to $2,000 for supplemental training.
In cases where a franchisee fails to maintain Body20's quality and service standards, Body20 may assign trainers to the studio for retraining. In such instances, Body20 may charge a fee of up to $1,000 per trainer per day for each trainer assigned to the franchisee's studio and any remedial training. Franchisees are also responsible for ensuring their employees meet all applicable training and certification requirements imposed by Body20, including fitness certification courses through accredited programs, at the franchisee's sole cost.
