What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Black Bear Diner FDD, if an Area Developer signs an Area Development Agreement for five or more restaurants, their multi-unit operations manager must attend and satisfactorily complete the initial training program.

The initial training program consists primarily of on-the-job training conducted over approximately 8 weeks, totaling about 320 hours. This is supplemented with approximately 15-30 hours of classroom and interactive, online training modules referred to as "Bears in the Know." Training typically occurs Wednesday through Sunday, with the exception of the Grand Opening Module, which spans 14 consecutive days.

Black Bear Diner conducts training at its company-owned restaurants, but may in the future certify certain franchisee-owned restaurants as "Training Restaurants." If certified, attendance and completion of training at a Training Restaurant may be required. The Vice President of Training & Development, Ms. Camille Chavez, oversees all aspects of training and has extensive experience in developing and managing training programs for various franchise concepts.
