What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Black Bear Diner's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, there were a total of 5 company-owned outlets and 3 franchised outlets opened in 2024. This brings the total number of Black Bear Diner outlets opened in 2024 to 8. The company-owned stores increased from 65 at the start of the year to 70 at the end of 2024. The franchised outlets increased from 91 at the start of the year to 92 at the end of 2024.
Specifically, the company opened 5 new outlets in Texas and zero outlets in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Utah. For franchised locations, one new outlet opened in each of Arizona, Kansas, and Texas. No franchised locations opened in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
It's important to note that while the company opened 5 company-owned outlets and franchisees opened 3 franchised outlets, the net change in total outlets was +6. This is because one franchised location in California and one in Oregon ceased operations for other reasons. This information is valuable for prospective franchisees to understand the growth and changes within the Black Bear Diner system.
