What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Black Bear Diner Franchise Disclosure Document, Black Bear Diner currently conducts its Convention for system franchisees on an annual basis. However, the FDD states that Black Bear Diner has the discretion to conduct and administer the convention.
Franchisees are required to attend the Black Bear Diner Franchise Convention, where seminars, workshops, and other training may be conducted. The convention's location is determined by Black Bear Diner, and attendance will not be required for more than three days during any calendar year. Franchisees are responsible for covering all costs associated with attending the convention; however, Black Bear Diner may elect to offset certain costs based on payments received from third-party suppliers.
If a franchisee or their General Manager fails to attend the Convention, Black Bear Diner may assess a fee, as described in Item 6 of the FDD. This fee could represent an unexpected cost for franchisees who do not plan to attend the annual convention. Franchisees should factor in the cost of attending the convention when assessing the overall financial investment of the franchise.
