Is Black Bear Diner an approved supplier of Development Services for the Franchised Restaurant build-out?

According to Black Bear Diner's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Black Bear Diner is currently an approved supplier of Development Services for the Franchised Restaurant build-out. Item 1 and 5 provide additional information regarding this.

Prospective franchisees should note that while Black Bear Diner is an approved supplier, franchisees are responsible for developing the Franchised Restaurant in compliance with the Black Bear Diner system. This includes ensuring that all plans and specifications comply with Black Bear Diner's requirements, applicable laws, and lease requirements. Franchisees will receive standard specifications and layouts for a Black Bear Diner restaurant and must hire an architect acceptable to Black Bear Diner to prepare plans and make necessary changes.

Black Bear Diner retains the right to review and approve all plans and specifications before construction begins. Additionally, the franchisee or their architect must certify that the architectural renderings, plans, and specifications comply with all applicable federal, state, and local codes, including the Americans with Disabilities Act. Black Bear Diner will perform a final inspection and provide a written sign-off if the build-out meets their approval, which is required before the franchisee can begin operating the Franchised Restaurant.

To maintain uniformity within the Black Bear Diner system, franchisees must use a proprietary Décor Package and Carved Bear Package in the build-out, purchased from designated suppliers and installed by the general contractor. Black Bear Diner will assist in placing orders with these suppliers. These requirements ensure that each Black Bear Diner location maintains a consistent brand image and meets the franchisor's standards.
