You or your General Manager is required to attend the Black Bear Diner Franchise Convention at which seminars, workshops and other training may be conducted. The Convention will be held at a location we designate. Attendance at the Convention will not be required for more than three (3) days during any calendar year. You are required to pay all costs to attend the convention; however, we may elect to offset certain costs otherwise required of you based upon the level of payments received (if any) from third party suppliers as described in Item 8. What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Black Bear Diner Franchise Disclosure Document, Black Bear Diner does not guarantee that they will host a Black Bear Diner Convention every year. While Black Bear Diner currently conducts the convention annually, they retain the discretion to decide whether or not to hold it.
If a convention is held, franchisees or their General Manager are required to attend the Black Bear Diner Franchise Convention, which may include seminars, workshops, and other training. The convention will not be required for more than three days during any calendar year and will be held at a location designated by Black Bear Diner. Franchisees are responsible for covering all costs associated with attending the convention; however, Black Bear Diner may elect to offset certain costs based on payments received from third-party suppliers.
Failure to attend the convention may result in a fee, as detailed in Item 6 of the FDD. This policy ensures that franchisees and their management remain engaged with the Black Bear Diner system, although the ultimate decision to hold the convention rests with the franchisor.
