What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bigfoot Forestry's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Bigfoot Forestry retains the right to modify or end advertising cooperatives whenever they choose. Advertising cooperatives are regional groups that pool advertising funds for use in specific areas. Bigfoot Forestry determines the cooperative's boundaries, which usually align with zip codes, designated marketing areas, or municipal boundaries.
Bigfoot Forestry can either administer the cooperative themselves or establish an advertising council comprised of the cooperative's members. If a franchisee's business is located in an area subject to an advertising cooperative, they must participate in the cooperative and pay a cooperative advertising fee. This fee can be set either by Bigfoot Forestry or by a majority vote of the cooperative's members, but it will not exceed 2% of gross sales. Any cooperative advertising fees paid are credited against the franchisee's local marketing commitment.
Financial statements for advertising cooperatives are not required, but if they are prepared, they will be made available to franchisees upon request. The fact that Bigfoot Forestry reserves the right to change or terminate these cooperatives at any time means that franchisees need to be aware that the advertising structure in their region could change, potentially impacting their marketing strategies and costs.
