What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Big O Tires Franchise Disclosure Document, the Franchise Advisory Council (FAC) is a group of franchisee representatives who meet with Big O Tires management to provide input on strategic planning and present viewpoints on franchise relationship issues. FAC members are chosen by franchisees according to policies established by Big O Tires.

Generally, FAC members are elected by franchisees who are members of BOTDA (Big O Tire Dealers of America). Franchisee-elected BOTDA board members then elect one BOTDA board member per each region established by Big O Tires, along with the BOTDA board chairman, to serve on the BEC (presumably another committee, although the document does not explicitly define BEC). The appointed BEC franchisee members then constitute the FAC membership.

This structure indicates that to become a FAC member, a franchisee must first be elected to the BOTDA board by fellow franchisees. Then, the BOTDA board selects representatives for the BEC, who then become the FAC members. This multi-layered election process suggests that FAC members are intended to represent the broader interests of the franchisee community, as they are chosen by their peers within the BOTDA organization and then appointed to the FAC through the BEC.
