We have the right to change the standards and specifications included in the Manual, including the list of approved suppliers. What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Big O Tires's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must comply with changes to the brand's standards if the changes are designated as mandatory. However, these changes must be applied reasonably and without discrimination among comparable Big O Tires franchisees. This ensures that while Big O Tires can evolve its standards, it must do so in a fair and consistent manner across its franchise network.
This condition protects franchisees from arbitrary or unfairly applied changes. By requiring that changes be both mandatory by their terms and applied reasonably and nondiscriminatorily, Big O Tires sets a clear expectation for how it will manage updates to its operational standards. This provides a level of predictability and fairness for franchisees as they adapt to new requirements.
For a prospective franchisee, this means that while you must adhere to the brand's evolving standards, you have some assurance that these changes will be implemented equitably. It would be prudent to inquire about the specific process Big O Tires uses to determine what constitutes a 'reasonable and nondiscriminatory' application of new standards to ensure a clear understanding of your rights and obligations as a franchisee.
