Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You may request additional or repeat training for your Managing Owner and School general managers and assistant managers at the end of Initial Training if they do not feel

sufficiently trained to operate a BIG BLUE Swim School. We and you will jointly determine the duration of any additional training, which is subject to our personnel's availability. You must pay our then-current training fee for additional or repeat training. However, if you do not expressly inform us that your Managing Owner and School general managers and assistant managers do not feel sufficiently trained to operate a BIG BLUE Swim School, they will be deemed to have been trained sufficiently to operate a BIG BLUE Swim School.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Managing Owner of a Big Blue Swim School is expected to communicate with the franchisor during training and operations. However, there are some stipulations regarding this communication.

Specifically, if the Managing Owner and School general managers and assistant managers do not expressly inform Big Blue Swim School that they do not feel sufficiently trained to operate a Big Blue Swim School, they will be deemed to have been trained sufficiently to operate a Big Blue Swim School. This implies that the franchisee bears the responsibility to communicate any training deficiencies to Big Blue Swim School. Otherwise, the franchisor assumes sufficient training has been provided.

Additionally, the FDD states that Big Blue Swim School will help train supervisory employees on their philosophy and Brand Standards, but not on matters relating to labor relations and employment practices. This suggests that the franchisor's communication and training focus on brand-specific operational aspects, while the franchisee is responsible for labor-related issues. Therefore, the Managing Owner's communication with Big Blue Swim School would likely be limited to topics within the scope of the franchisor's training and support, excluding labor relations and employment practices.
