What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bhc's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must request a written statement of receipts and expenditures of the aggregate Marketing and Promotion Fees no later than March 31 of any calendar year. If a franchisee makes this request by the deadline, Bhc will provide the statement no later than May 31 of the same calendar year. The statement will cover the preceding calendar year and will be certified as correct by one of Bhc's officers.
This means that if a Bhc franchisee wants to know how the Marketing and Promotion Fees were spent in the previous year, they need to make a written request to Bhc by March 31st of the current year. This allows Bhc to compile the information and provide the statement by May 31st. The statement will show where the money collected from all franchisees for marketing and promotion was spent, less a 15% administration fee retained by Bhc.
It is important to note that Bhc has sole discretion over how the Marketing and Promotion Fees are spent, for national, regional, or local marketing, advertising, market research, public relations, and promotional campaigns. The fees are used to promote and enhance the value of the Bhc marks and general public recognition. Bhc is not obligated to ensure that any particular franchisee benefits directly or proportionately from these fees.
