What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bhc's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, after a Master Franchisee opens their first Bhc restaurant, subsequent locations must be in the Development Area. The Development Area is described either in a map following Exhibit 1 or as otherwise detailed in the franchise agreement. All locations are subject to review and approval by Bhc.
This means a prospective Master Franchisee needs to carefully examine Exhibit 1 and any related maps to fully understand the geographic scope of their development rights. The franchisee will only be able to open additional locations, or authorize subfranchises, within this defined area. Bhc retains approval rights over each specific site, ensuring it meets their standards.
Understanding the Development Area is crucial for assessing the growth potential of the master franchise. A smaller or less desirable Development Area could limit the franchisee's ability to expand and generate revenue. Conversely, a large and promising area could present significant opportunities, provided the franchisee can meet the required development schedule. The franchisee should clarify the details of the Development Area with Bhc before signing the agreement.
