What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, while Bft does not charge a tuition or training fee for the Initial Training Program, the franchisee is responsible for covering the costs and expenses associated with themselves or their designated trainees attending the program. This includes the franchisee, their Operating Principal (if the franchisee is an entity), and their Designated Manager (if applicable). This condition applies as long as these individuals attend the Initial Training Program simultaneously and complete it before the Studio's Soft Opening.
This means that while the training itself is provided without a direct fee, franchisees must budget for travel, accommodation, meals, and any other incidental expenses incurred by themselves or their personnel while attending the Initial Training Program. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to provide the core training content without burdening the franchise system with additional costs, while ensuring that franchisees have a vested interest in managing their training-related expenses.
Furthermore, Bft franchisees are also responsible for costs and expenses related to any additional training beyond the initial program. This includes training for new Authorized Instructors after the Studio's Soft Opening, additional training that Bft may require the franchisee and their personnel to attend (up to five days annually), and any additional or refresher training requested by the franchisee. This reinforces the franchisee's ongoing commitment to training and development, but also necessitates careful budgeting for these potential expenses throughout the franchise term.
