Is there a minimum number of certified instructors that a Bft studio must have on-site?
Bft Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
The Studio must have at least one (1) individual that has completed the Pre-Opening Instructor Training on-site at the Studio at all times when any Approved Services are being provided.
Franchisee must otherwise ensure that: (i) any Pre-Opening Instructor Training held at the Studio is performed in accordance with System Standards; (ii) any individual that participates in the Pre-Opening Instructor Training, successfully completes that program, and passes any test that is provided in connection with the program; and (iii) no personnel provides fitness instruction or other Approved Services at the Studio unless and until such personnel successfully completes the Pre-Opening Instructor Training and passes the corresponding test.
Franchisee agrees that Franchisor, as part of its right to inspect and audit the operations of the Studio on an ongoing basis, may require that Franchisee demonstrate that all required personnel has participated in and successfully completed the Pre-Opening Instructor Training and corresponding test.
- C. Head Coaching.
In the event Franchisee wishes to have one (1) of the Studio's Authorized Instructors provide the Pre-Opening Instructor Training at the Studio to prospective instructors as part of the Approved Services, then that Authorized Instructor must attend and complete the "Head Coach" course provided by Franchisor's head coach designed to provide the Authorized Instructor with additional instruction necessary for that individual to become a head coach that can provide the Pre-Opening Instructor Training (each, a "Head Coach").
Franchisor is not obligated to approve any Franchisee request to send a given Authorized Instructor to Head Coaching, and Franchisee must: (i) not be in default of any provision of this Agreement as a condition to Franchisor's approval of such a request; and (ii) pay Franchisor its thencurrent Training Fee in connection with any Head Coaching provided (the "Head Coaching Fee").

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Bft Franchise Disclosure Document, a Bft studio must have at least one individual who has completed the Pre-Opening Instructor Training on-site at all times when any approved services are being provided.
Bft requires any individual providing fitness instruction or approved services to complete the Pre-Opening Instructor Training. This training can be part of the Initial Training Program or completed later using the System Standards' instruction materials and tests. If a franchisee allows uncertified individuals to provide approved services, Bft can terminate the agreement.
Franchisees must ensure that any Pre-Opening Instructor Training at their studio follows System Standards, that participants complete the program successfully, and that no personnel provides instruction without completing the training and passing the test. Bft retains the right to inspect and audit studio operations, and franchisees must demonstrate that all required personnel have completed the necessary training and testing.
If a Bft franchisee wishes to have one of their Authorized Instructors provide the Pre-Opening Instructor Training at the studio to prospective instructors, that Authorized Instructor must attend and complete the "Head Coach" course provided by Bft's head coach. Bft is not obligated to approve any franchisee request to send a given Authorized Instructor to Head Coaching, and the franchisee must not be in default of any provision of the Franchise Agreement as a condition to Bft's approval of such a request and pay Bft its then-current Training Fee in connection with any Head Coaching provided.
