ITEM 11 FRANCHISOR'S ASSISTANCE, ADVERTISING, COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND TRAINING
Except as listed below, we are not required to provide you with any assistance.
A. Pre-Opening Assistance
Franchise Agreement
Before your Studio's Soft Opening:
We will provide you (or, if you are an entity, your Operating Principal), as well as your Designated Manager (if appointed) of your Studio, with our proprietary Owner/Operator Training Module and Designated Manager Training Module, respectively, that at least you (or, if appropriate, your Operating Principal) will need to complete prior to opening your Studio (the "Initial Training Program").
We will typically provide the Initial Training Program within the thirty (30) days prior to your Studio opening, but that timing will be subject to the availability and schedules of our training personnel.
We will provide the Initial Training Program at our corporate headquarters or other training facility we designate, which may be virtually (Franchise Agreement, Article 5).
We will also provide you or another individual you designate as your prospective Authorized Instructor with our Pre-Opening Ins On-Site Grand Opening Assistance (Discretionary)
For your Studio's Soft Opening, we may send one (1) or more representative(s) to your Studio to (a) provide assistance and recommendations regarding your opening and initial operations, and/or (b) provide additional or refresher training associated with any required Pre-Opening Instructor Training described above in this Item 11, as we deem appropriate in our discretion. If we determine to provide such on-site assistance, it will typically last
between 1 to 2 business days and we may require that you cover the costs our representatives incur in connection with such assistance.
Additional Training in Connection with Operation of the Studio; Ongoing Pre-Opening Instructor Training for Authorized Instructors
After your Studio's Soft Opening, if you hire any new Authorized Instructors, they will complete Pre-Opening Instructor Training with a Head Coach, as opposed to a trainer provided by us. The Fundamentals Training Program will continue to be provided virtually and will be available at our then-current Fundamentals Tuition Fee, as a separate offering from the Pre-Opening Instructor Training.
What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Item 11 outlines the pre-opening assistance Bft provides to franchisees. Bft offers its proprietary Owner/Operator Training Module and Designated Manager Training Module to the franchisee or their Operating Principal and Designated Manager, respectively. This training must be completed before the studio opens and is typically provided within 30 days of the opening at Bft's headquarters, another designated facility, or virtually. Bft also provides Pre-Opening Instructor Training to the franchisee's prospective Authorized Instructor.
Bft may send representatives to the franchisee's studio for the soft opening to provide assistance and recommendations regarding the opening and initial operations, or to provide additional training. This on-site assistance typically lasts one to two business days, and Bft may require the franchisee to cover the costs incurred by the representatives. After the soft opening, new Authorized Instructors will complete Pre-Opening Instructor Training with a Head Coach, and the Fundamentals Training Program will be available virtually for a fee.
Item 7, which details the estimated initial investment, complements Item 11 by outlining costs associated with pre-opening activities. While Item 11 describes the training programs and on-site assistance offered, Item 7 would list costs for items such as the Pre-Sales and Soft Opening Retail Inventory Kit. This kit includes branded apparel, marketing, and promotional items necessary for the pre-sales phase and soft opening. The franchisee is responsible for costs and expenses associated with attending any additional training described in Item 11. These costs are not specifically broken out within Item 7, but are alluded to within the notes section of the table.
Prospective franchisees should carefully consider the costs associated with training, potential on-site assistance, and the purchase of the Pre-Sales and Soft Opening Retail Inventory Kit when evaluating the overall initial investment. Understanding the scope and costs of these pre-opening activities is crucial for budgeting and ensuring a successful studio launch.
