What minimum standards must a Bft franchisee meet regarding cleanliness, equipment, and customer service?

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must meet certain performance standards related to cleanliness, equipment, and customer service. Bft may evaluate a studio's compliance with System Standards using methods such as inspections, field service visits, surveillance camera monitoring, member comments/surveys, and secret shopper reports. Franchisees and their employees, including independent contractors, must meet minimum standards for courteousness and customer service.

Bft requires franchisees to engage personnel of high character and ability who maintain traits of enthusiasm, cleanliness, neatness, friendliness, honesty, and loyalty. These traits are deemed necessary to promote and maintain customer satisfaction and the goodwill of the Bft system. Franchisees must also ensure that their owners and employees act honestly and ethically in all dealings with stakeholders of the Bft brand.

Furthermore, the franchisee must maintain the studio and all fitness equipment according to Bft's System Standards, promptly repairing or replacing defective or obsolete equipment, signage, or fixtures. Bft may evolve the System and require franchisees to modernize or replace components of the trade dress and studio's operating assets to conform to the System Standards for new Bft studios. Bft also retains the right to inspect and assess all aspects of the studio's appearance and operations to determine compliance with the agreement and System Standards.
