What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a new franchisee must spend a minimum of $15,000 on the Initial Marketing Spend. This expenditure is earmarked for initial sales and marketing activities connected to the franchisee's approved Opening Support Program, as well as other marketing and promotional activities that Bft approves or designates.

Bft may also require the franchisee to use all or part of this $15,000 on marketing, advertising, or public relations materials or services purchased from an approved supplier. This initial marketing spend is separate from the franchisee's ongoing local advertising requirements and is not subject to the Marketing Expenditure Cap.

This means that, in addition to the initial $15,000, franchisees are also responsible for local advertising and marketing to attract members to their studio, with a minimum monthly spend of either $1,500 or 2% of gross sales, whichever is greater. The initial marketing spend is a one-time requirement to help launch the franchise, while the local advertising requirement is an ongoing monthly expense.
