What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, any social media content related to the studio must be in good taste and not linked to controversial, unethical, immoral, illegal, or inappropriate content. This means Bft franchisees need to be cautious about the content they post on social media related to their studio.
Bft retains the right to approve or disapprove any advertising and promotional materials, including social media content. Bft may also "occupy" any social media websites/pages and be the sole provider of information regarding the studio on such websites/pages. This indicates that Bft has significant control over the online presence and messaging of its studios.
Bft can request franchisees to modify or remove any online communication pertaining to the studio that does not comply with the Franchise Agreement or the Learning Management System. While franchisees are not prohibited from obtaining members over the Internet, their Internet presence and content must comply with the requirements of the Franchise Agreement. This highlights the importance of franchisees understanding and adhering to Bft's guidelines for online marketing and social media.
In practical terms, a Bft franchisee should avoid posting anything that could be deemed offensive, illegal, or harmful to Bft's brand image. They should also be prepared to modify or remove content at Bft's request. It is important for prospective franchisees to discuss social media guidelines with Bft to fully understand the expectations and restrictions.
