What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must spend a minimum of $15,000 on initial marketing. This "Initial Marketing Spend" covers the initial sales and marketing activities outlined in the franchisee's approved Opening Support Program, as well as other marketing and promotional activities that Bft approves or designates.
Bft may require franchisees to spend all or part of this $15,000 on initial marketing, advertising, and/or public relations materials or services purchased from an approved supplier. This means franchisees might have limited flexibility in how they allocate this initial marketing budget, as Bft can mandate specific vendors or materials.
It's important to note that this initial marketing expenditure does not count towards the franchisee's ongoing local advertising requirements. Franchisees are separately required to spend the greater of $1,500 or 2% of gross sales per month on local advertising. The initial marketing spend is also not subject to the Marketing Expenditure Cap.
