Are Bft franchisees required to install the POS/Inventory System at their own expense?

Bft Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Franchisee further agrees to install at its expense and use the membership accounting, cost control, point-of-sale system and inventory control systems (the "POS/Inventory System") through the supplier Franchisor designates.

The designated, or approved, supplier(s) for these services will be updated in the Learning Management System as changes are made.

Throughout the Term, Franchisee will also be required to pay Franchisor's then-current designated provider for the software that Franchisor prescribes for use in connection with the Studio and the POS/Inventory System, which may be modified upon reasonable written notice to Franchisee.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are indeed responsible for the costs associated with installing and using the POS/Inventory System. Specifically, the FDD states that franchisees must install the membership accounting, cost control, point-of-sale system, and inventory control systems at their own expense. This system must be obtained through a supplier designated by Bft.

This requirement means that a prospective Bft franchisee needs to factor in the initial costs of purchasing and installing the POS/Inventory System when budgeting for their franchise. Furthermore, the franchisee is obligated to use the specific supplier that Bft designates, which may limit their options and potentially affect pricing. The FDD also mentions that the designated suppliers may change and will be updated in the Learning Management System.

In addition to the initial costs, Bft franchisees are also responsible for ongoing expenses related to the POS/Inventory System. The FDD indicates that franchisees will be required to pay the then-current designated provider for the software used in connection with the studio and the POS/Inventory System. These software costs can be modified by Bft with reasonable written notice, so franchisees need to be prepared for potential changes in these ongoing expenses.
