What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for the costs of maintaining and upgrading their computer systems and software. Bft reserves the right to change the computer system, accounting, business operations, customer service, and other software at any time. Franchisees must upgrade and maintain their computer systems and software as required by Bft and must also pay any fees associated with these upgrades.
This requirement means that franchisees must budget for ongoing technology expenses throughout the term of their franchise agreement. These costs are in addition to the initial investment in computer systems and software. The specific amount of these fees can vary depending on the nature and frequency of the required upgrades.
Furthermore, Bft requires franchisees to provide any necessary passwords to access the computer system and software at Bft's discretion. This level of access allows Bft to monitor and maintain the system, but it also places a responsibility on the franchisee to ensure the security of their computer systems and data. Franchisees should factor these potential costs into their financial projections and understand the implications of maintaining up-to-date technology systems as part of their franchise agreement.
