Is a Bft franchisee required to purchase a specific computer system?

Bft Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must purchase the computer system that we specify, including computer hardware, software, the POS System, inventory control systems, and high-speed network connections (collectively, the "Computer System"), as well as the audio-visual equipment comprising the Audio/Visual Package, including speakers, cabling, mounts and other related equipment that we specify. The component parts of the Computer System and Audio/Visual Package must be purchased from Approved Suppliers. If we require you to use any proprietary software or to purchase any software from a designated vendor, you must sign any software license agreements that we or the licensor of the software require and any related software maintenance agreements. The Computer System is described in more detail in Item 11 of this Disclosure Document.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase a specific computer system. This system includes computer hardware, software, a Point of Sale (POS) system, inventory control systems, and high-speed network connections. Additionally, franchisees must also purchase a specified audio-visual equipment package, including speakers, cabling, mounts, and related equipment. These items must be purchased from Bft's approved suppliers.

This requirement ensures that all Bft studios operate with a standardized technology infrastructure, which can help maintain brand consistency and streamline operations. However, it also means that franchisees have limited flexibility in choosing their own technology solutions and must adhere to Bft's specified systems and suppliers. Franchisees are also responsible for signing any software license agreements required by Bft or the software licensor, as well as any related software maintenance agreements.

Item 11 of the FDD provides further details about the computer system. Prospective franchisees should carefully review Item 11 to understand the full scope of the required computer system, its functionality, and any associated costs. Understanding the specific components and capabilities of the required computer system is crucial for budgeting and planning the studio's technology infrastructure.
