What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Bft Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee wants to use an alternative supplier for products or services that Bft requires to be purchased from an approved supplier, the alternative supplier must first be approved by Bft in writing. As part of this approval process, Bft may provide its standards and specifications for approved products to the proposed alternative supplier.
To receive these standards and specifications, the alternative supplier must agree to sign Bft's prescribed form of non-disclosure agreement. This agreement ensures that any confidential information disclosed by Bft remains protected. This process is in place to maintain the quality and consistency of the Bft brand and protect its proprietary information.
Additionally, Bft may provide an alternate supplier with a copy of their then-current specifications for any product(s) the franchisee wishes the supplier to provide, provided the supplier enters into a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement in the form Bft specifies. Bft may also inspect a proposed supplier's facilities and test its products and/or services, and request that the franchisee reimburse Bft's actual costs associated with the testing/inspection.
