What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the general policy is that all fees paid to Bft are non-refundable unless explicitly stated otherwise. This means that franchisees should carefully review the terms and conditions of each fee to understand whether it is refundable under specific circumstances. Fees payable to third parties may be refundable based on individual arrangements made by the franchisee.

Several fees are outlined in Item 6, such as the Royalty fee, Brand Development Fund contributions, and Technology Fee, which are generally non-refundable. Other fees, such as Music Licensing Fees, Insurance Policies, Audit Fees, Mystery Shopper program fees, Late Fees, Non-Compliance Fees, Costs of Enforcement or Defense, and Indemnification costs, are contingent upon specific actions or failures to act by the franchisee. The refundability of these fees would depend on the specific agreements made with third parties or the circumstances under which they are charged.

Prospective Bft franchisees should pay close attention to the conditions under which fees are charged and whether there are any provisions for refunds. Understanding the specific terms of each fee can help franchisees avoid unexpected costs and manage their financial obligations effectively. It is advisable to seek clarification from Bft regarding the refund policies for each fee to ensure a clear understanding of the financial commitments involved in operating a Bft franchise.
