What fee must a Bft franchisee pay for Head Coaching?

Bft Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

  • C. Head Coaching.

In the event Franchisee wishes to have one (1) of the Studio's Authorized Instructors provide the Pre-Opening Instructor Training at the Studio to prospective instructors as part of the Approved Services, then that Authorized Instructor must attend and complete the "Head Coach" course provided by Franchisor's head coach designed to provide the Authorized Instructor with additional instruction necessary for that individual to become a head coach that can provide the Pre-Opening Instructor Training (each, a "Head Coach").

Franchisor is not obligated to approve any Franchisee request to send a given Authorized Instructor to Head Coaching, and Franchisee must: (i) not be in default of any provision of this Agreement as a condition to Franchisor's approval of such a request; and (ii) pay Franchisor its thencurrent Training Fee in connection with any Head Coaching provided (the "Head Coaching Fee").

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee wants one of their authorized instructors to provide pre-opening instructor training at the studio, that instructor must complete the "Head Coach" course provided by Bft's head coach. Bft is not obligated to approve any franchisee's request to send an authorized instructor to Head Coaching. To be approved, the franchisee must not be in default of any provision of the Franchise Agreement. If the franchisee meets these conditions, they must pay Bft its then-current Training Fee in connection with any Head Coaching provided; this fee is referred to as the "Head Coaching Fee."

This means that a Bft franchisee will incur a specific "Head Coaching Fee" if they wish to train their instructors to become certified "Head Coaches" capable of providing pre-opening training to other instructors. This fee is in addition to other training fees associated with the initial and ongoing training programs. The franchisee bears the responsibility for ensuring their instructors meet Bft's standards and for covering the costs associated with this specialized training.

The "Head Coaching Fee" is subject to change, as it is based on Bft's "then-current" fee schedule. Therefore, prospective franchisees should confirm the current fee amount with Bft during their due diligence. This fee is only applicable if the franchisee wants to develop in-house trainers rather than relying solely on Bft's provided trainers. This provides an option for franchisees to become more self-sufficient in training new instructors, but it comes at an additional cost.
