What This Means (2025 FDD)

The 2025 Bft Franchise Disclosure Document outlines the process for developers to open Bft studios, but it does not explicitly state whether the developer currently operates an existing Bft studio at the time of signing the Multi-Unit Agreement. However, the document implies that the developer may not yet have an operating studio, as it requires the developer to sign a Franchise Agreement simultaneously with the Multi-Unit Agreement for the first franchise they are obligated to acquire.

The Bft agreement stipulates that the developer, or their approved affiliate, must conduct a 'Soft Opening' and operate a studio according to the terms of the Franchise Agreement. Furthermore, the franchisor retains the right to reject any site or affiliate if the developer is not in compliance with existing Franchise Agreements or operating their studios in accordance with the franchisor's standards. This suggests that the developer's ability to open new locations is contingent on their adherence to Bft's operational guidelines and compliance with existing agreements.

While the FDD does not directly answer whether the developer already operates a Bft studio, it does provide a framework for how a developer will establish and operate studios under the Multi-Unit Agreement. To gain clarity on whether a developer is required to have an existing Bft studio, a prospective franchisee should seek clarification from Bft regarding any prerequisites or expectations for developers entering into a Multi-Unit Agreement.
