Part A-2: Monthly Active Members of Qualified Studios
In this Part A-2, we sorted the 29 Qualified Studios, ranked (highest to lowest) by the amount of average Monthly Active Members reported by the Qualified Studios for the Measurement Period, into four (4) quartiles, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Quartiles each comprising 7 Qualified Studios and the 4th Quartile comprising 8 Qualified Studios. "Monthly Active Members" means Studio members who were party to an effective studio membership agreement with a Qualified Studio for a particular calendar month.
We calculated the average Monthly Active Members as follows: (a) we totaled the number of Monthly Active Members for each calendar month during the Measurement Period for each Qualified Studio; then (b) we calculated a simple average of the Monthly Active Members for the entire Measurement Period to determine the average Monthly Active Members during the Measurement Period for each such Qualified Studio; then (c) we calculated a simple average of all such Qualified Studios' average Monthly Active Members to determine the average Monthly Active Members for all 29 Qualified Studios noted above.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the definition of 'Active Members' depends on whether the studio is a 'Qualified Studio' or a 'New Studio'. For a 'Qualified Studio', 'Monthly Active Members' are defined as studio members who have an effective studio membership agreement for a specific calendar month. The average Monthly Active Members is calculated by totaling the number of Monthly Active Members for each calendar month during the Measurement Period (January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024) for each Qualified Studio, then calculating a simple average of these members over the Measurement Period. Finally, a simple average of all Qualified Studios' average Monthly Active Members is calculated to determine the overall average.
For a 'New Studio', 'Active Members' are defined as studio members who are party to an effective studio membership agreement at the conclusion of a particular calendar month. A 'New Studio' is one owned and operated by a franchisee that conducted its 'Soft Opening' in calendar year 2024, excluding studios at Non-Traditional Sites. The 'Soft Opening' is when the studio opens its doors to the public for regular classes in its physical premises.
Understanding the distinction between 'Monthly Active Members' for 'Qualified Studios' and 'Active Members' for 'New Studios' is important for Bft franchisees, as these metrics are used in financial performance representations within the FDD. These metrics can influence the perceived financial health and potential of different Bft studio locations. The FDD uses these definitions to present data on monthly performance, which prospective franchisees can use to evaluate potential revenue and membership trends.
