What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Bft's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, in addition to the average monthly Membership Attrition Rate, the range and median are also shown for the 29 Qualified Studios. The data, which covers the period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, provides prospective franchisees with a more complete picture of membership trends. The membership attrition rate is the number of cancelled studio memberships during a particular calendar month divided by the number of studio members at the end of the prior respective calendar month.

Understanding the range (minimum and maximum values) offers insight into the best and worst-case scenarios experienced by existing Bft franchisees. This helps potential franchisees assess the possible variability in attrition rates they might encounter. The median, representing the middle value, provides a sense of the 'typical' attrition rate, which can be more informative than the average if there are outliers that skew the average significantly.

Bft calculates the average monthly Membership Attrition Rate by first determining the Membership Attrition Rate for each calendar month during the Measurement Period for each Qualified Studio. Then, an annual Membership Attrition Rate for each Qualified Studio is calculated by determining a weighted average of each studio's Membership Attrition Rate for the twelve months during the 2024 calendar year. The weight is allocated to the particular month's Membership Attrition Rate based on the number of members that the Qualified Studio had during that month. Finally, a simple average of all the Qualified Studios' weighted average monthly Membership Attrition Rate is calculated to determine the average Monthly Membership Attrition Rate for all 29 Qualified Studios.

By providing these additional metrics, Bft allows potential franchisees to make more informed decisions, taking into account not just the average performance but also the potential variability and typical performance of existing studios. This is important for realistic financial planning and risk assessment.
