What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Beverly Anns Cookie's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to update the appearance of their GRM/GRT (presumably a mobile retail unit) under specific circumstances. These updates are necessary to maintain the brand's System Standards regarding image and quality.
The required updates to the GRM/GRT appearance occur (1) every seven years; (2) upon the execution of a successor franchise agreement if the GRM/GRT hasn't completed required remodels or doesn't comply with current standards; (3) when transferring a Beverly Ann's Business with a GRM/GRT that needs remodeling; or (4) if the GRM/GRT doesn't meet current standards. Additionally, franchisees must purchase a new GRM/GRT depending on its age, condition, and wear, but no later than 28 years after its manufacture.
These requirements ensure that all Beverly Anns Cookie mobile units present a consistent and up-to-date image to the public. This is a common practice in franchising, where maintaining brand standards is crucial for customer recognition and trust. The franchisee bears the expense of these remodels and replacements, which can be a significant investment. Franchisees must use the franchisor's approved supplier for window tinting, wrapping, and upfitting of the GRM/GRT.
Prospective franchisees should consider these remodel and replacement costs when evaluating the financial viability of a Beverly Anns Cookie franchise. It is important to factor in the potential expenses of keeping the GRM/GRT compliant with the System Standards over the life of the franchise agreement.
