Does Bevaris Alliance cater to nutritional needs?

Bevaris_Alliance Franchise · 2024 FDD

Answer from 2024 FDD Document

Bevaris' goal is to provide amazing, hot, home-cooked meals that meet dietary and nutritional needs and friendly customer service. Bevaris differentiates itself from its competitors by providing schools with madefresh-daily gourmet meals. Their ala carte menu contains over 300 items that allows Bevaris to cater to all needs.

The Franchise Agreement requires that you comply with all local, state, and federal laws that apply to the Branded Business.

You must also comply with all menu and menu board labeling laws and rules requiring restaurant operators to disclose certain calorie or other nutritional information about the foods you sell, including, for example, the FDA's Nutrition Labeling of Standard Menu Items in Restaurants and Similar Food Establishments Rule.

California law requires each food facility that meets specified criteria (which covers franchised outlets with at least 19 other franchised outlets with the same name among certain other food facilities) to provide nutritional information that includes, per standard menu item, the total number of calories, grams of saturated fat, grams of trans fat, and milligrams of sodium and to have menu boards to include the total number of calories. In California, local county health departments inspect restaurants and other retail food facilities to ensure compliance with safe food handling practices and adequacy of kitchen facilities. Other states and cities may have laws similar to California.

The Nutrition Labeling and Education Act ("NLEA") sets regulations for food labeling, including nutritional label standards, nutrient content claims, and health claims. NLEA applies to virtually all foods in the food supply, including food served and sold in restaurants. While NLEA specifies a number of exemptions for restaurants, there are many instances where a nutritional label is required.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Bevaris Alliance's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a key aspect of the brand's mission is to meet dietary and nutritional needs. Bevaris Alliance aims to provide hot, home-cooked meals with friendly customer service. Their menu contains over 300 items, allowing them to cater to various needs.

As a Bevaris Alliance franchisee, you will be required to comply with all local, state, and federal laws applicable to the business. This includes menu and menu board labeling laws that mandate the disclosure of calorie and nutritional information about the food you sell. For example, the FDA's Nutrition Labeling of Standard Menu Items in Restaurants and Similar Food Establishments Rule and California state law require specific nutritional information to be provided, such as calories, saturated fat, trans fat, and sodium content.

Compliance with these regulations is crucial for franchisees. The FDD emphasizes that local county health departments in California, and potentially similar bodies in other states and cities, will inspect restaurants to ensure adherence to safe food handling practices and the adequacy of kitchen facilities. The Nutrition Labeling and Education Act (NLEA) also sets standards for food labeling, including nutritional content and health claims, which apply to most foods served in restaurants. Franchisees must carefully review all applicable laws and regulations to ensure their Bevaris Alliance business operates in full compliance.
