What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Better Blend's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Better Blend does not charge a fee for its standard pre-opening training program. This training is made available to the Principal Executive and up to three other employees. The training takes place at Better Blend's headquarters or at a Better Blend business designated by them. However, franchisees are responsible for covering their own travel, lodging, meals, and any other out-of-pocket expenses incurred while attending the training. Better Blend also retains the right to modify the length and content of the initial training program based on the experience and skill level of the individuals attending.
While Better Blend does not charge a fee for the initial pre-opening training, they may charge a fee for subsequent training programs. If a franchisee sends an employee to Better Blend's training program after the store has opened, Better Blend may charge its then-current training fee. As of the date of the Franchise Agreement, this training fee is $250 per person per day.
This is a fairly standard practice in the franchise industry. Franchisors commonly provide initial training without a direct fee but require franchisees to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. The potential for additional training fees post-opening is also typical, as it incentivizes franchisees to adequately train their staff initially and provides a revenue stream for ongoing support.
