What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to the 2024 Better Blend Franchise Disclosure Document, de-identifying a location means removing all Better Blend branding from the premises after the franchise agreement terminates or expires. Within 30 days of termination or expiration, the franchisee is responsible for removing all Better Blend Marks, signage, and trade dress from the location, ensuring it no longer resembles a Better Blend business. This de-identification must be done to Better Blend's reasonable satisfaction.

If the franchisee fails to de-identify the location within the specified 30-day period, Better Blend has the right to enter the premises and remove the branding themselves. In such cases, the franchisee will bear the expense of de-identification. Better Blend will not be held liable for trespass or any damages or alterations resulting from the removal of assets or branding during this process.

This requirement is a standard practice in franchising to protect the brand's image and prevent consumer confusion after a franchise ceases operation. It ensures that the location does not continue to benefit from the Better Blend brand without authorization. Franchisees should factor in the potential costs associated with de-identification when considering the overall investment and potential exit strategy for the franchise.
