What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Better Blend's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a Market Cooperative must obtain approval from Better Blend before using any advertising or promotional materials. Specifically, the FDD states that no advertising or promotional plans or materials may be used by a Market Cooperative or furnished to its members without prior approval from Better Blend. This approval is required per Section 9.1 of the franchise agreement. Better Blend also retains the right to designate the national or regional advertising agencies that the Market Cooperative uses.
This requirement ensures that all marketing efforts align with the brand's standards and overall strategy. For a prospective franchisee, this means that while they may participate in a Market Cooperative to develop local advertising and promotion, all materials must be vetted and approved by Better Blend. This process helps maintain consistency in branding and messaging across all locations.
The franchisee should be aware that Better Blend has the final say on all promotional content used by the Market Cooperative. This could potentially limit the cooperative's autonomy in creating materials tailored to the local market. However, it also provides a safeguard against materials that might not meet Better Blend's standards or comply with legal requirements.
In practice, this means franchisees need to factor in time for submitting materials to Better Blend for approval and understand that changes may be required. While this might add an extra step to the marketing process, it also ensures that the Market Cooperative benefits from Better Blend's expertise and oversight in advertising and promotion.
