What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Better Blend's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a "Data Security Event" encompasses a broad range of actual or suspected incidents that compromise data security. This includes any act, whether internal or external, that targets the business's computers, point-of-sale systems, and networked environments.

Specifically, a Data Security Event includes any attempt to gain unauthorized access to Better Blend's systems, other Better Blend businesses, or their data. This also covers unauthorized viewing, copying, or use of Privacy Information or Confidential Information. The definition extends to unwanted disruptions or denial of service, unauthorized use of systems for data processing or storage, and any changes to system hardware, firmware, or software without Better Blend Franchising's (BBF) knowledge, instruction, or consent.

For a prospective Better Blend franchisee, this definition highlights the importance of robust data security measures and adherence to BBF's security policies. Franchisees must be vigilant in protecting customer and confidential data and must immediately report any suspected security breaches to BBF. This obligation underscores the shared responsibility between the franchisee and franchisor in maintaining the integrity and security of the Better Blend system.
