What This Means (2025 FDD)

The 2025 Best Western Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) outlines the process for addressing violations and potential membership cancellation. If Best Western alleges a violation, the member has twenty-one (21) days after the mailing date of the violation notification to provide a written answer. This answer must be sent via traceable expedited carrier to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or their designee.

The member's response should specifically state whether they intend to correct the charged violations within the given corrective period or if they dispute the existence of the violations. If the violations have already been corrected within the 21-day period, the response should explicitly state this. Additionally, if corrective action is still possible within the established corrective period, the member must notify Best Western when the violations have been corrected, with this notification being sent no later than the last day of the corrective period.

If the President and CEO or their designee determines, upon receiving the member's answer, that the violations do not exist, have been satisfactorily corrected, or will be corrected within the prescribed corrective period, no further action is required from either the member or Best Western. However, if the member fails to correct the violations within the corrective period and notify Best Western, or if the corrections are not satisfactory to Best Western, the President and CEO or their designee will notify the member via traceable expedited carrier that grounds for cancellation exist.
