What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Best Western's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must pay a General Manager Training Fee ranging from $320 to $1,700. This fee covers the initial training programs and brand orientation that Best Western provides to new General Managers.

This initial training is crucial, as the General Manager, Voting Representative, sales manager (if applicable), and all front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance personnel must successfully complete it before the property can open and begin operations. The training, lasting three to five days, takes place at the property or another designated location. Franchisees must also provide accommodations for Best Western's trainers during this period.

In addition to the training fee, franchisees are responsible for covering all travel and living expenses, as well as wages and workers' compensation insurance for their employees attending the initial or any additional required training. If personnel do not successfully complete the initial training, Best Western may require additional training programs, potentially incurring further costs for the franchisee.
