What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Best Western's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all televisions in Best Western Plus hotels must be commercial grade. Furthermore, all televisions in Best Western branded hotels are required to be replaced with televisions that comply with the Television Guidelines by December 31, 2024. These guidelines specify that any televisions purchased for use in guest rooms must meet minimum size requirements and HD programming standards.
Specifically, for Best Western Plus properties, the minimum television sizes due by December 31, 2024, are 50" for the lobby, breakfast area, fitness area, and guestrooms. Guestroom televisions must also have streaming/casting capability. The FDD states that all televisions shall be commercial grade LCD, LED, or plasma flat panel televisions with HDMI, Proidium chip, and VGA ports.
For a prospective franchisee, this means budgeting for commercial-grade televisions that meet the specified technical requirements and sizes. It is important to note that these standards are subject to change, and future changes to Design Guidelines and Brand Standards shall be presented to Members for approval through ballots in accordance with Section 500.21 of Best Western's Rules and Regulations.
