What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Best Western's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the current Advertising Assessment fee is $16.39 per room per month. This fee is used by Best Western to cover various programs, including advertising, promotions, publicity, public relations, market research, loyalty programs, and other marketing initiatives that benefit BW Hotel Operators. Additionally, the assessment covers administrative costs and overhead related to the management of these projects and programs.
Best Western has sole discretion in determining how and when these advertising funds are spent. This includes control over creative concepts, advertising placement, promotional programs, and the development of reservation systems. The funds may be used for the benefit of all System Hotels and other BW Hotel Operators and will not exclusively promote any single hotel or the Best Western brand itself.
It is important to note that these fees do not constitute a trust, and Best Western is not a fiduciary with respect to these payments. Franchisees are not entitled to reimbursements from unused advertising assessments. These fees also do not cover the costs for optional marketing programs or the costs of operating the property in accordance with Best Western's standards.
