What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Best Western's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, all Evaluation, Impact Study, and Affiliation Fees are payable in either U.S. funds or Canadian funds, based on the monthly exchange rate. This applies to new membership fees effective as of December 1, 2024. The Evaluation Fee is a non-refundable $4,000 application evaluation fee required to process the application.
The Affiliation Fee has a minimum of $45,000 for properties with 50 rooms or less, with an additional $200 for each room up to a maximum of 1,000 rooms. The Impact Study Fee is required if an impact study is necessary according to Best Western's Bylaws. This fee must be paid before the impact study is conducted and is a prerequisite for the application's continued processing.
For Canadian memberships, fees are billed in Canadian dollars based on the monthly exchange rate but can be paid in either Canadian or U.S. dollars. This dual-currency payment option provides flexibility for Canadian applicants, allowing them to pay in the currency most convenient for them, while the exchange rate ensures that Best Western receives the appropriate value.
