What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Best Brains' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Best Brains does provide pre-opening assistance to franchisees. Specifically, Best Brains offers on-the-job supervision and assistance at the franchisee's location for approximately three days around the time of the franchise's opening.
Prior to opening, Best Brains will use reasonable efforts to review the franchisee's selected site within 30 days of receiving the site information. The franchisor's approval considers factors such as demographics, traffic, accessibility, parking, visibility, signage, competition, proximity to other businesses, commercial characteristics, lease terms, and the site's physical attributes. Best Brains recommends a location size of 1,000 to 1,500 square feet. Franchisees must also spend a minimum of $14,000 on local advertising and promotion for the grand opening, following a marketing plan approved by Best Brains.
Best Brains also provides an initial training program consisting of fourteen days of training on the operation of a Best Brains franchise. This training is conducted at one of the Best Brains learning centers in the Chicagoland area, typically one to ten weeks after signing the Franchise Agreement. If a franchisee purchases a Premium Learning Center, they must pay a $3,500 initial training fee, in addition to covering their own travel and living expenses for the training period.
In addition to the above mentioned support, Best Brains will provide the franchisee with an inventory of student worksheets, instructional materials, abacuses, and initial equipment and center décor. However, Best Brains ships these items but does not install them. The typical time between signing the Franchise Agreement and commencing operations is eight to twelve weeks, influenced by factors like franchisee training, leasehold improvements, equipment installation, weather, holidays, employee hiring, and the franchisee's schedule. Franchisees must commence operations within 180 days of signing the Franchise Agreement.
