What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Best Brains' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must spend a minimum of $14,000 on local advertising, marketing, and promotion before opening their franchised business. This expenditure must align with an opening marketing plan approved by Best Brains.
This $14,000 is specifically designated for the grand opening and is separate from any contributions to the Brand Development Fund. Best Brains retains the right to mandate that these funds be paid to the Brand Development Fund before the "open house," allowing them to manage the local advertising, marketing, and promotion efforts according to a plan they develop.
In addition to the grand opening expenses, Best Brains franchisees must also allocate funds for ongoing local advertising and promotions. The FDD states that franchisees must spend at least $250 per month, expended quarterly, on local advertising and promotions of the Best Brains business. These ongoing expenditures are separate from both the grand opening advertising and the Brand Development Fund contributions. Best Brains has the right to audit a franchisee's records to ensure compliance with these advertising expenditure requirements. Failure to meet the minimum spending may result in the franchisee being required to pay the unspent amount to the Brand Development Fund.
Prospective franchisees should carefully consider these advertising requirements, as they represent a significant financial obligation in addition to other fees and royalties. Understanding the specific requirements for pre-opening and ongoing advertising is crucial for budgeting and planning the launch and operation of a Best Brains franchise.
