What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Bens Soft Pretzels Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise training consists of twenty-four hours of training. This training is required and must be completed within one month after the date of the Franchise Agreement. The training program includes virtual training and scheduled weekly or bi-weekly calls for many of the subjects.
Bens Soft Pretzels also provides five days of pre-opening and opening on-the-job supervision and assistance at the store premises near the store's opening. Franchisees are responsible for covering their own travel and living expenses during the training period. Both the franchisee and their manager are required to pass the training program to the franchisor's satisfaction. Failure to pass the training program can result in the termination of the Franchise Agreement, without a refund of the franchise fee or coverage of incurred costs.
In addition to the initial training, Bens Soft Pretzels may require franchisees to participate in up to five days per calendar year of refresher training. This refresher training will cover store operations and marketing. The refresher training may take place at an annual convention or business meeting of franchisees, which franchisees may be required to attend once per calendar year. Franchisees are responsible for all travel and living expenses associated with refresher training programs or meetings, and additional fees may apply as outlined in Item 6 of the FDD.
