What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Ben & Jerry's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, after the Acquisition Date of December 29, 2000, Ben & Jerry's Parent, Homemade, ceased to operate and franchise Ben & Jerry's Shops. The Parent company also stopped offering franchises in any other line of business. Ben & Jerry's Franchising, Inc. became the franchisor and operator of Ben & Jerry's Shops after acquiring all assets related to Homemade's company-owned shops and the assets used to manage the franchising system.
Ben & Jerry's Franchising, Inc. then began offering franchises for Scoop Shops and Satellite Shops. In April 2002, they started offering franchises for Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops to individuals and businesses operating as contract feeders and providers of food services to Institutional Facilities, known as Special Venue Scoop Shops. However, the FDD clarifies that the disclosure document does not cover the franchise program offered to contract feeders and food service providers for Institutional Facilities, as that program is detailed in a separate disclosure document.
As of December 31, 2024, the Ben & Jerry's system included 152 franchised Scoop Shops, 15 franchised Satellite Shops, 17 franchised Special Venue Scoop Shops, and 2 company-owned Scoop Shops across 31 states, Canada, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. Ben & Jerry's Franchising, Inc. has not offered franchises in any other line of business.
