What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Ben Jerrys's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the day-to-day operations of the Scoop Shop or the Authorized Warehouse must be under the direct supervision of the OPERATOR or a manager who has satisfactorily completed Scoop U Training. This indicates that either the franchisee (OPERATOR) themselves or a designated manager is eligible to oversee these operations, provided they have completed the required training program. For the Authorized Warehouse, this training may have been completed in relation to the Scoop Shop prior to signing the Warehouse Addendum.

This requirement ensures that Ben Jerrys maintains consistent quality and operational standards across all franchise locations. By mandating Scoop U Training, Ben Jerrys aims to equip managers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively run the Scoop Shop and Authorized Warehouse. This includes understanding Ben Jerrys's procedures, customer service protocols, and product handling guidelines.

For a prospective franchisee, this means that they or their designated manager will need to attend and successfully complete the Scoop U Training program. This may involve additional time and expenses, but it is a crucial step in ensuring the smooth and successful operation of the Ben Jerrys franchise. Franchisees should inquire about the details of the Scoop U Training, including the curriculum, duration, and associated costs, to fully understand the commitment involved.
