What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Ben Jerrys's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the day-to-day operations of a Ben Jerrys Scoop Shop must be under the direct supervision of the franchisee or a manager who has satisfactorily completed Scoop U Training. If a franchisee has multiple Scoop Shops, each shop and associated authorized warehouse must have a fully trained manager.

This requirement ensures that each Ben Jerrys location is run by someone competent and knowledgeable in the brand's standards and practices. The franchisee must maintain a competent, conscientious, and trained staff, including a fully trained manager.

For a prospective Ben Jerrys franchisee, this means that finding and retaining qualified managers, or being a qualified manager themselves, is crucial for the success of their Scoop Shop. The franchisee needs to ensure that any manager they hire completes the Scoop U Training to meet Ben Jerrys's operational standards. This also highlights the importance of ongoing training and development for staff to maintain the quality and consistency of the Ben Jerrys brand.
